Mastering rates

panicStudios has just simplified our rates for mastering! Which ever rate is the least expensive, is what you are charged. Also, there is always a discount for "digital only" delivery.

Per track - $40
This applies for all mastering, EPs, full lengths, and singles.
For example, a 10 track album would cost $400

per minute - $10/min
For example, a 45 minute album would cost $450

per hour - $85
For example, if it took me 5 hours to master your album of any length it would cost $425

This Includes:
1. One final pre-master audio CD (this is what you'll give to your replicator/duplicator)
2. One final reference audio CD (this is what you'll keep for yourself for listening)
3. Additional CDs are $40/pre-master and $15/reference

Digital Discount: 30%
This discount is for those that are having your album distributed digitally over the internet and only need the mastered audio files. For example, if you are not getting a physical CD made and you are distributing your album through a download service such as the iTunes Music Store or eMusic.

This includes:
1. Web delivery of your mastered data files in .wav format. This is what you'll convert to the appropriate format for digital delivery.

Why the digital discount?
When preparing a master for physical release on a tangible medium, it is very important that the pre-master CDR is properly burned and put through a vigerious quality control (QC) regimen. This involves using high quality, Tayio Yuden media burned and checked with a Plextor Premium drive. This ensures the lowest error rates possible in the pre-master CDR. Also, every pre-master CDR is listened to in its real-time for any possible errors that could occure. All of these steps take time. If you are having your audio digitally distrubuted, this process is not neccesary, resulting in the price difference.

Stem Mastering -$85/hr
Stem Mastering is a little more time consuming so i charge an hourly rate. The average track mastered from stems takes 45minutes. For more information about stem mastering, click here.

transfers - $75/hr (minimum 1 hour)
I also can also do digital transfers, direct analog transfers, or format conversions of your cassette tapes, reel to reel tapes and vinyl records.

Restoration $85/hr (minimum 1/2 hour)
Noise removal from audio recordings is also available.
